Hello! My name is Mark Humphrey and I am currently 21 years old. I live in Southern California and work in the entertainment industry. Growing up my family was always into outdoor sports. During the winter, we would go skiing. During the summer, we would golf.
Working in the entertainment industry at a young age made me realize that I want to have a place to relax and call my own that is outside of Los Angeles... that's what drew me to Truckee, CA. With the ability to ski at multiple Tahoe resorts during the winter and golf at multiple courses during the summer, I knew it was the right choice. And it's away form the craziness of LA traffic!
Now the hardest thing for me to do is figure out how to build a home in Truckee in a golf community, with skyrocketing build prices, at a young age. How am I going to get a lender to approve me for a $1 million loan? How am I going to get contractors to take me seriously? Is it possible to keep the cost to build lower by saving in certain places?
If you're in the same boat as me (let's be serious you're probably not since most 21 year olds aren't trying to build a house) or you just need advice to build a house in Truckee (since there are no blogs about this) please join me! Or, if you have any advice on this matter, please contact me and send me any information you can!
My first step is going to talk to a financial advisor friend of mine to see if it's even possible to get a construction for $1 million with a 10-15% down payment. Will update after that meeting!
